Site Review: BTC For Me (1 update)

Update 1, 31/03/2013: It seems the owner of the site sold the domain to a sex toys shop. Forget about getting free bitcoins here.

As you can see if you surf a bit around this blog, there are several websites that give you free bitcoins every certain amount of time after you make a simple action (solve a captcha, watch a video, visit a website...). There are also sites that give you bitcoins once, and that's it. You shouldn't miss these either! Every little helps in your quest to become Scrooge McBitcoin. Let's check out one of them, called BTC For Me:

How It Works:

  • You can consider BTC For Me as a one-time faucet. It will send you bitcoins after you tweet a message like the following:

Just remember, you have to put your bitcoin address there instead of mine!

  • After a couple of hours you'll have 1000µ฿ more in your digital wallet!
  • You can do this only once. I asked them to see if this was a daily service, but it only works once on each Twitter account and once for each bitcoin address:

I also share their philosophy of "spreading the love"! :-)

Best Strategy:

  • Create a Twitter account if you don't have one. I don't think they will send bitcoins to an empty or a recently created account, so make sure you actually use it before asking them for bitcoins.
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from BTC For Me. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • Tweet the following message: "I Want Some @BTCForMe! BITCOIN ADDRESS #Bitcoin", including your bitcoin address where it says "BITCOIN ADDRESS".
  • Wait until their script catches your tweet and sends you the bitcoins.
  • Say thanks!

Thanks, @BTCForMe!

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 4/5. 1000µ฿. Once. Well enough!
  • Convenience: 4/5. Just tweet and wait. Easy and fast.
  • Payment speed: 3/5. In a few hours you'll have your bitcoins ready to be hoarded spent.
  • Risk: 0/5. None at all. It's a service you can use once to get some free bitcoins.
  • Final Score: 8/10. Don't miss BTC For Me. You only have to do it once and it gives you a good amount of bitcoins for very little work. And remember, spread the love! :-)
