Site Review: Bitcoiner (2 updates)

Centuries ago, when Bitcoins were born (in 2009 [hey, we are on the Internet!]), one of the ways their first users tried to lure other people into adopting this innovative virtual currency was through "faucets". Basically, these were websites that sent small amounts of bitcoins for free to the bitcoin addresses you wished once or every certain amount of time. Today, it is still considered a way of welcoming new Bitcoin users. One of the best known bitcoin faucets around is Bitcoiner:

How It Works:

  • Bitcoiner gives you free bitcoins after you input your Bitcoin address and solve a verbal captcha.
  • You'll receive around 50µ฿ every time you do this.
  • You can do this only once every 24 hours.
  • Your payments are made around 23:00 GMT.
  • That's all! It can't be simpler. Well, it could if you didn't need to solve a captcha. But then bad people would try to exploit the system.

I always ask for a daily payout...

Best Strategy:

  • Get a Timer App on your phone and bookmark http://bitcoiner.net  on your mobile phone's browser (or any other).
  • Create a new Bitcoin address only to receive bitcoins from Bitcoiner. This way you can assure yourself that they are actually paying you.
  • You only have to input your Bitcoin address once. The site will save it for the next times you return.
  • Visit the site, solve the captcha and click on the blue "Send!" button. Delay your payment or ask for a payment that day. Whatever you prefer.
  • Set your timer to 24 hours. When the countdown reaches zero, repeat the previous step.
  • Update 1, 11/02/2013: Kazuldur wrote on the comments some information that could improve my strategy. Don't forget to check it out!

Payment ordered!

This is the kind of amounts you can expect to get

Site Review:

  • Expected profit: 1/5. Around 50µ฿ each day. A very small amount. But what can I say? Gotta catch 'em all!
  • Convenience: 4/5. It has a captcha to protect itself against the bad guys. The rest is pretty straightforward.
  • Payment speed: 3/5. You'll receive your bitcoins at 23:00 GMT time. You may delay your payments, but I don't see the advantage on this.
  • Risk: 0/5. None. It's a faucet from where you pump free bitcoins instead of water.
  • Final Score: 6/10 Update 2, 11/02/2013: 9/10 (Keep reading!). Compared to other websites, Bitcoiner gives a petty quantity of bitcoins. But it's so fast to obtain them that you may as well visit it every day. Plus the unhappy smiley you see if you return to the site before the 24 hours are over is weird:

:-(

If that website was mine I would have put a different kind of face there. One that matched better with the text:

Now this one is perfect!

Update 2: After catching my tweet about this review, Bitcoiner decided to change their Unhappy Smiley and put in its place the awesome Troll Face!!! They deserve 3 points more now! Visit them every day! Every hour!! Every minute!!!

The Bitcoin Master will confirm this double payout during the next days... But for now:

So classy and appropriate!
